that’s fascinating. I agree with your conclusion, but had no idea of the underlying cause for infidelity. could this need for validation etc stem from having an older sibling who was the favorite of the parents?
I think there are many different causes for infidelity.
But specifically people who are addicted to cheating often feed off of the energy of being wanted. Early on they may have thrived by getting others to like them in a kind of flirtatious way. Later, they become habituated to the excitement of novelty, passion, and pleasure. The sad irony is that the more they need excitement, the less satisfying it is. They miss out on a certain type of excitement that comes with emotional depth and growth of relationship.
